Wow! So, so pumped to finally share this out. Been in the works since this Summer. Yewwww!
100 numbered-edition posters will be available for sale first come, first served (limit one per transaction) at the A6 main Rip City Clothing Co. location.
A portion of all net proceeds from Gameday posters & t-shirt sales will be donated to the Trail Blazers Foundation, benefiting local nonprofit organizations in Oregon and SW Washington. How cool is that!
If you are in Portland, snag a ticket and try and stop by. March 23rd, I'll be arriving at the stadium to sign the prints and hang out. Then once the game starts, will be with friends celebrating.
Working with the Blazers has been a massive bucket list for me and thrilled to work with them. Die-hard fan since day zero and am so hyped to collaborate with them.
I got a ton of inspiration from old playing cards, Clyde Drexler, Dame, CJ, and Lamarcus Aldridge + a mix of NBA Jams on Super Nintendo. At the time, Lamarcus used to be on the Blazers, then moved over to the Spurs and wanted to pay tribute to him in some ways. Mainly, since this game is against those two teams and thought of it as a full circle kind of scenario since it's prior teammates playing against each other. Of course, both teams are much different now and no one is playing on these teams tonight.
During this process, I drew almost a full notebook of basketball players, styles, and movements. Along with Portland fans as a base. These figures were tough to draw for me. A lot of squiggles that didn't work, then some line work really started to come together. If you've been to a Blazer game before, the arena gets wild and the energy can be quite crazy. I tried to capture that. Had so much fun with this!
I've been a fan since I was born and have wanted to team up with the Blazers since I was a kid. So pumped! Here are a few sketches that got me to the final.
Thanks so much to the Blazers staff, and of course you all for supporting me. I hope you enjoy the poster! I'll share out the t-shirt on another post.
